Iron River Trip (part I)

Hi All, Sorry it's been awhile since I last posted. We had a great trip to Iron River during the last two weeks in June. It's taking me too long to get the trip documented in one post so I am going to break it up. Here is part I.

Wednesday 6/17/09: Trip to Iron River: Sebastian did better in the car than expected. The big attraction was trucks! We stopped at a rest area and parked in the truck parking (because we were pulling a trailer) so Sebastian was immediately wowed by the big truck next to us. He waved to the driver and then talked to him when he came out. Then we had to examine the truck up close. The next rest stop was lunch. He was so excited because he could see the big trucks while he ate his lunch.

The first night at the cabin we took a walk and Sebastian found a very big stick along the driveway.

Thursday: Grandpa and Grandma are so busy and fun to watch. Sebastian was very intrigued by Grandma on the red riding mower. While mommy went for a run, Sebastian and Grandma took a walk down the driveway and saw Sebastian's first deer.

Then he got to ride with Grandpa!

Friday: Sebastian watched Grandma and Grandpa get the scamper ready for an alternative sleep option (at the end of the week this became Russ' office.) Then he swang and swang and swang...Thank you Grandpa for the swing! After a long nap he swang and swang and swang... After dinner we drove to Moon Lake to check out the beach. Sebastian waded in his baby crocs and played in the sand. Then it was treat time at the drive-in A&W.

Grandpa was digging, so Sebastian had to play with the shovel. When that became life threatening to the adults, Grandpa got Sebastian a shovel just his size. Then Sebastian was able to dig along with Grandpa and supervise as well.

Saturday: Sebastian got us all up at 5:00am (argh!) He was so excited about out the birdies outside. Do they have baby earplugs?

Sunday: We went out to breakfast for Father's Day. Sebastian decided to exercise his scream periodically during the meal. It wasn't the relaxing breakfast that Grandma and Grandpa were used to.

After lunch Sebastian "helped" Grandpa open his gifts. Rather he snatched a gift, ran down the hall with it and started ripping into it before I could get to him.

Buffalo sausage yum!

That night Aunt Kristine, Uncle Dave and cousins Hannah and Caleb came bearing pizza! Three cousins together - let the fun and chaos begin!
