Zoo Visit

It turned out to be a sunny morning instead of a rainy one so Sebastian and I biked to the zoo. Of course we had to play at the playground first. He is getting more adventurous. He can climb the stairs up to the slide in the shoe all by himself - those are some steep stairs!

Once in the zoo we visited the lions, but they weren't roaring so we moved on. Next was the sea lions. Sebastian liked watching the three of them swim around. Then we saw a giraffe, and he was intrigued. The monkeys were hiding, which is too bad because they were quite a hit last time. We watched the zoo train. Sebastian waved to the conductor and the passengers. overall, the animals were interesting, but climbing on rocks and playing with ropes was much more fun.

Banana Lady

The weather was questionable today so Sebastian and I took a walk up to the Wednesday farmer's market. We then decided to play on the rooftop of the Monona Terrace. As we were leaving, we found out that there was a free kid's show in the building at 10:00, so we decided to wait around for that. While we were waiting, Sebastian kept running out of the room to the escalators. He was very intrigued by them and wanted to keep his hand on the moving handrail. Finally the show was ready to start. The Banana Lady came out and addressed the audience. Sebastian was mildly interested. Then she started her rock'in veggie song and Sebastian burst into tears and cried very loudly. So much for the Banana Lady, maybe another time.

In the evening we went to concert on the square. This time it was just us. Sebastian sat long enough to inhale his dinner and then he was off like a shot to visit other people and investigate his surroundings.

Sorry, no pics this time.

Concert on the Square

Another beautiful night at Concert on the Square. It was packed! The fullest I have ever seen it. This time Grandma came with Aunt Kristine, Hannah and Caleb. Sebastian enjoyed darting off, while Caleb played nicely on the blanket. Grandma got all of the kids balloons. Unfortunately Hannah's precious purple balloon flew away.

We did our usual Vilas run/play at the park. But Sebastian wasn't interested in the play equipment at first - he spied the large lawn mower working the adjacent field. He ran after it until it was out of site. Then we had to watch another one cutting the weeds for awhile. Then the first mower came around again and Sebastian waved to the driver, but when the driver waved back, he suddenly got shy. It was a very busy day at the park. The art cart was there painting the big shoe.

Pool

We had planned to start the day out with a bike ride to Grandma and Grandpa's. That plan was foiled when I found out that someone had locked part of my bike to theirs. So we had to drive. Sebastian was ecstatic when he walked in the backyard and spied the swing that Grandpa had set up for him - thanks Grandpa!

In the evening we took our first visit to Goodman pool. Sebastian loved it! He was intrigued by the water features - especially the one with the dumping buckets. It wasn't all fun and games though, as Daddy made sure that he practiced his swimming.

After he got too cold we took a break and played in the "beach area" He loved smashing Daddy's sand castles.

Time for one last frolick in the water before home.

Vilas Beach

It was a warm, sunny day so we biked down to Vilas beach. As usual, Sebastian had fun playing in the sand and water. However, I think he missed his beach buddies because eventually all he wanted to do was play with other kid's toys and run off to say hi to the college girls behind the vending counter.

Rainy Day

We invited ourselves over to Hannah and Caleb's house. Sebastian had a blast playing with all of the new toys. He ran around the downstairs playroom, and strengthened his basketball skills. He and Hannah had many laughs over the "ball roller coaster" pictured above.

That evening Grandma, Hannah and Ceil came downtown for concert on the square. Sebastian had a blast taking off like a shot and running through the blankets, greeting people.

He and Hannah had a great time running all around. He met some friends - another boy who was playing with a toy truck on the marble seating area.

He didn't want to sit on the blanket unless there was food to eat. Blueberries - yum!

Yoga Already?

Sebastian was laughing hysterically so we came to see what he was doing and he somehow got himself into this pose...

Earlier in the day he pulled this stunt: he pulled the diaper pail out and climbed in behind and then pulled it back into position.

Also earlier that morning, while I was getting ready for a run, I asked Sebastian if he wanted to go for a ride in the jogger. I turned around and he had gotten the pieces for the jogging wheel out of the jogger and was trying is trying to put them in the correct slots.

Olbrich Gardens

Sebastian and I met up with Aly and her three daughters at Olbrich Gardens.

We explored the gardens...

and played with the water features...

This one got the camera lens - no more pictures for today

After the gardens we went across the street to play at the beach and have a picnic lunch. Sebastian was a little too excited to eat and kept playing with his sand covered shoe in between bites. It became impossible to keep his hands clean, so he is well on his way to eating his pound of dirt.
