Iron River (part II) June 22-29

Water Bug!

Monday: Sebastian got up at 5:20 am. After that I installed makeshift blackout curtains, which seemed to help. Now if only those darn birdies weren't so exciting in the morning! That evening was warm so we took the kids to the beach, for a trial run, after dinner. Sebastian loved it! He played in the water, and along the shore in the sand. He found sticks to dig with and played in the "tidal pools".

Tuesday: We went to the beach in the morning and had it all to ourselves. All three kids had fun playing in the sand at the water's edge. Sebastian ventured waist high by himself. I took him out farther and he liked swimming on his tummy. Hannah ventured deep with her life vest. Caleb preferred the sand.

Caleb wasn't too sure about the water, so he had fun playing in the sand. By the end of the week though, he ventured into the water.

That afternoon was still very hot so after naps we got the sprinkler out to cool off. Sebastian enjoyed playing with the hose. He didn't mind the ICE cold water, until he got it on his head.

Who's that Caleb?

Wednesday: We went to a different beach at nearby twin bear lake.

The cousins played in the sand

Grandpa gave boat rides! Hannah, Caleb and Kristine went first. Then it was Sebastian's turn. He didn't make a peep during the whole ride. But once we got back to the beach again, he went right to playing in the sand and bossing his cousins around.

Thursday: Back to our usual beach in the morning.

Friday: Daddy had arrived the night before so everyone went to the beach in the morning.

Sebastian couldn't resist the swing at the beach

Friday night: Russ and Amy went out to dinner. Then after the kids were in bed, Kristine, Dave, Russ and Amy went to the end of the Brule. We didn't get to see a spectacular sunset over lake Superior this time, but we had the beach all to ourselves. We were lucky enough to see two deer frolicking on the other shore of the brule river.

Saturday started out rainy. Grandma and Grandpa took the Jabas family out to breakfast. Sebastian was lonely while his cousins were away. Later in the afternoon, Hannah got to make smores over the fire.

Sunday: The Jabas family went home. It was a cool and rainy day, so we had to play inside. Sebastian took a 3.5 hour nap.

Monday: Pietz family went home. Grandma and Grandpa finally had their peace and quiet back.
